Alternative Gift Fair 2009
Join Milwaukee Riverkeeper and countless other community groups at the Outpost Exchange Alternative Gift Fair. You’ll have the opportunity to buy gifts for family and friends while supporting organizations like Milwaukee Riverkeeper at the same time!
Milwaukee Riverkeeper and 20 other non-profits will be offering a range of gift levels to choose from.
You could spend:
1. $10 for 5 storm drain markers
Gift will allow Milwaukee Riverkeeper to purchase five storm drain markers, which will be used to mark storm drains as “non-dumping sites” around the City of Milwaukee.
2. Milwaukee Urban Water Trail map printing. $25 prints fifteen, $70 prints forty, $100 prints 75.
Gift will supply people with a detailed Milwaukee Urban Water Trail map. The map will increase awareness of the rivers and encourage recreational use of Milwaukee’s urban waterways.
3. $35 for hip waders to be used in volunteer river cleanups
Gift will provide one pair of hip waders to allow Riverkeeper staff and volunteers to be safe and dry while restoring Milwaukee’s rivers to their clean, natural state.
4. $60 for a month’s supply of fuel for Riverkeeper Patrol Boat
Gift will purchase one month’s supply of fuel to ensure our Riverkeeper boat can monitor the quality of water on the rivers, cleanup surface-water debris, locate and report illegal discharges and take individuals on tours of Milwaukee’s scenic water-ways.
5. $150 for level 1 water quality testing kit for volunteer
Gift will provide a trained volunteer with a level one testing kit containing everything that volunteer needs to monitor a section of the river for a year. Volunteers measure dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity, flow, and macro-invertebrates collecting information for the WDNR database.
See ya there!
