Announcing Energy Fair Keynote Speaker Bill McKibben

MREA is excited to announce Bill McKibben as the keynote speaker for Saturday, June 19, 2010.

An American environmentalist and writer, Bill McKibben is the founder of 350.org, an international climate campaign. Bill frequently writes about global warming, alternative energy, and the risks associated with human genetic engineering. Beginning in the summer of 2006, he led the organization of the largest demonstrations against global warming in American history. Bill has written many books and his newest book, Eaarth: Making a Life on a Tough New Planet, makes the case that we’re going to have to figure out how to stop focusing our economies on growth, and start thinking about survival. That means embracing local, smaller-scale ways of living, like it or not.

Bill is a frequent contributor to various magazines including The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Harper's, Orion Magazine, Mother Jones, The New York Review of Books, Granta, Rolling Stone, and Outside. He is also a board member and contributor to Grist Magazine.
