Woolly Bear Winter Fest

Join us as the River Revitalization Foundation hosts a wonderfulful winter festival centered around one of the Milwaukee River's favorite friends, the Woolly Bear Caterpillar.
Come out and have fun with the Woolly Bears on Saturday, February 4 at the River Revitalization Foundation's Woolly Bear Winter Fest!

Why Woolly Bear?

Woolly Bear Caterpillars are the larva of Tiger Moth & are a common sight along the Milwaukee River. People see them on warm days in fall as they move to find shelter in debris in the woods & fields.

Legend says that if the golden center of the Woolly Bear is large the winter will be mild, if the caterpillar is mostly black, then winter will be freezing! Is it true? Who cares! It's fun to watch Woolly Bears; they can withstand winter temperatures of 35 degrees below zero! They come to life with the warm days of Spring when they come to form cocoons & become moths then start the cycle again.

Learn even more about Woolly Bears and have all sorts of other winter fun like...
