Milwaukee Environmental Consortium

3rd Annual Fall Community Garden Tour

When:
Sunday, September 13, 2009 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Milwaukee Urban Gardens invites community members and garden enthusiasts to join us for a unique tour of community gardens throughout Milwaukee! The tour offers a chance to experience an eclectic group of neighborhood gardens and meet individuals that are working to renew Milwaukee through urban gardening activities. In the words of Wendy Mesich, community gardener, "Urban gardening is a way to empower neighborhoods and individuals in the creation of a community hub while eating healthier and regaining a connection to our food source."

We'll meet at All People's Garden, and then participants will choose between either the guided bus tour or bike circuit led by the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin. Both tours will visit six selected gardens. A total of nine community gardens will provide garden-fresh snacks and host fun activities for residents of all ages! Gardens on tour include: Greenfolks Garden and Garden Park in Riverwest, Spencer Garden, Thurston Woods Garden, and Hocking Heritage Garden on Milwaukee's northwest side, All-Peoples Community Garden, Off The Grid Garden and Cluster Two Play & Grow Lot in Harambee, and Village Roots Garden in Bay View.

A limited number of spaces are available, so buy your tickets today! Tickets cost $12 per person.
